The United States will maintain the sanctions against Russia for the annexation of Crimea until the occupation of the peninsula is stopped.
This was stated by United States Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Nikki Haley, commenting on the situation in Donbass at a meeting of the UN Security Council.
“The surge of fighting in this part of Ukraine, the loss of lives, the destruction of infrastructure, and the crisis are growing. This escalation of violence should be stopped. The United States are together with the Ukrainian people, who have suffered the occupation and Russia’s military intervention for nearly three years,” said Haley.
According to her, the United States continue to condemn the actions of the Russian Federation and, inter alia, call Russians to immediately stop the occupation of Crimea.
“Crimea is part of Ukraine. In this regard our sanctions will remain in force until Russia brings the peninsula back under Ukraine’s control,” added the United States Ambassador to the UN.
