According to MP of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko, today’s former Deputy of the State Duma of Russia Denis Voronenkov’s murder in Kyiv is a politically-related one to intimidate all Russian MPs and officials.

“This is a politically-related killing, aiming to intimidate all those Russian MPs and officials, who try to escape from Russia both to the West and to Ukraine and to tell the truth about the functioning of the Russian punitive apparatus. He (Voronenkov) was killed in retaliation with what he and his wife had truthfully witnessed about the preparation of the annexation of Crimea and the attack on Donbass,” said Gerashchenko.

As a reminder, today, the 23rd of March, former Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Denis Voronenkov has been killed in the center of Kyiv. His wounded security guard managed to shot the alleged killer.

In the autumn 2016 Voronenkov and his family left Russia, and the former Deputy of the State Duma of Russia received Ukrainian citizenship in December.

Previously Voronenkov harshly criticized the power system in modern Russia and condemned the annexation of Crimea in an interview to Ukrainian media. In addition, Voronenkov gave evidence the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine in the case concerning fugitive ex-President Viktor Yanukovych’s treason.
