Ukraine suspects 18 Russian leaders of the annexation of Crimea and the military aggression

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine has reported on suspicion of committing crime by 18 individuals from the leadership and the army authorities of the Russian Federation.

This was announced at a press briefing of Prosecutor General Yury Lutsenko.

Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Sergey Glazyev, a former representative of the Russian President in the so-called “Crimean Federal District” Oleg Belavencev, Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoygu, his two deputies and another 10 people from among higher officers of the armed forces of the Russian Federation are in the list of suspects.

Lutsenko noted that the pre-trial investigation had revealed willful violation of numerous international legal acts, development and actualization of the “criminal plan for changing the borders of the territory of Ukraine” and illegal orders for Russian troops and separatists in Crimea and in the eastern regions of Ukraine committed by each of the suspects.

The suspects were provided with subpoenas sent via international couriers and e-mail.
