Russia’s exploitation of the Ukrainian Black Sea resources will be subject to an international claim against the Russian Federation. This was announced by the Minister on the temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced persons Vadym Chernysh at a press briefing.
“The exploitation of resources will be the subject of legal action by Ukraine,” said Chernysh.
According to the Minister, Russia produces the Ukrainian natural gas on the sea shelf after the annexation of the Crimean peninsula. “So far the Ukrainian natural gas production, which is located in the exclusive maritime territory of Ukraine, takes place offshore and this gas is supplied to the inhabitants of Crimea”, said the Minister.
Also, according to him, Ukraine intends to resist under the Convention on the law of the sea the Russia’s construction of the bridge to Crimea. All the documents on this matter should also be submitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice in order to exploit the opportunities in the framework of the Convention on the law of the sea. The same applies to the use of the shelf,” explained Chernysh.
It was earlier reported that Ukraine had filed four lawsuits against Russia to the European Court of human rights (ECHR).
