According to Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Olena Zerkal, French presidential candidate from the far-right National Front Party Marine Le Pen can change her stance on Ukraine and Crimea if she becomes Head of the State.
“Maybe Le Pen does not think so now, and I do not know what she will think afterwards. And yet, probably there are some protective mechanisms in the French society that must be activated at some point. I understand the complexity of the situation. But there is no need to say that France will become absolutely right-wing and fall into the arms of Russia at some point,” said Zerkal, commenting on the upcoming elections in France.
As a reminder, on January 3 Marine Le Pen said on the airwaves of French BFMTV that the Russian annexation of Crimea “was not illegal.”
As of today, candidate of the far-right National Front Party Marine Le Pen and member of the Republicans Party François Fillon have the highest pre-election ratings in France. Both the candidates were in favor of the rapprochement of France and Russia.
