Strojgazmontazh, which is the general contractor to construct the bridge across the Kerch Strait, has received this year’s first 8 billion rubles. This was reported by the press service of the Taman highway department which is the customer of the project.
“More than 8 billion rubles for construction work completed by the contractor during the period from April to May 2016 has been paid. The payment is transferred to the Treasury account of Strojgazmontazh,” said the statement.
It was earlier reported that the funding for the construction of the bridge across the Kerch Strait, which is carried out by Arcadij Rotenberg’s Strojgazmontazh Company, had been temporarily cut off. The last time Strojgazmontazh received money for the bridge construction in December 2015. Still the payment of 65.4 billion rubles pencilled in for this year has not been made.
The reason for the delay is that all the major public construction projects en masse, including the Kerch Bridge, are transferred from the usual extended banking services to the Treasury in 2016.
The total cost of the bridge across the Kerch Strait will come to 227.9 billion rubles ($3.5 billion).
