The case of 11 Crimean deputies-renegades have been submitted to court in Ukraine

The Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea as part of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine has submitted 11 bills of indictment on former deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea to court.

According to the press service of the Office, judicial authorities are provided with the indictments concerning former Crimean deputies Sergey Cekov, Svetlana Savchenko, Konstantin Bakharev, Oedipus Gafarov, Anatoly Zaichenko, Remzi Ilyasov, Gregory Ioffe, Vladimir Klychnikov, Vitaly Nahlupin, Efim Fiks and Sergey Shuvaynikov, all accused of treason.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the deputies helped the Russian occupiers and supported the annexation of Crimea in March 2014. In particular, they illegally took a number of decisions resulted in an illegitimate state formation the “Republic of Crimea” was created.

The accused faces 12 to 15 years of imprisonment.
