The Parliament of the Syrian Arab Republic (part of the country under control of the dictator Bashar Al-Assad) has recognized the annexed Crimean peninsula an integral part of Russia.
This was announced by Speaker of the Syrian Parliament Hadiya Abbas in an interview with the Russian news agency Sputnik.
“Due to the events after the collapse of the Soviet Union and until the present time, this subject (Crimea — ed.) has returned to its roots after expression of the will of the Crimean people on the referendum. We recognize that Crimea is an integral part of Russia,” said Abbas.
She also stated that relations between Syria and Russia were strategic and forward-looking, and both the governments intended to develop them in all spheres: political, economic, social and consular.
