Sponsors of Crimea’s annexation are proposed to add to the Ukrainian list of sanctions

The Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for National Security and Defense recommends accepting a resolution on personal sanctions against a number of citizens of Ukraine and the Russian Federation.

The draft resolution proposes to approve and provide the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) with a proposal on sanctions for creating menaces for the national interests, national security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as for promoting terrorist activities.

In addition, a list of the persons to impose sanctions is attached to the draft resolution. The list includes Russian politicians and businessmen: Alexander Babakov, Alexander Katunin, Victor Nusenkis, Konstantin Malofeev (financing the Russian annexation of Crimea and Russian mercenaries in Donbass), Oleg Deripaska, Arkady Rothenberg (whose company builds the Kerch Bridge from Russia to Crimea), Igor Kesaev, Semyon Mogilevich and Franz Klincevich.

Moreover, Ukrainian businessmen and politicians Dmitry Firtash, Konstantin Grigorishin, Yuriy Ivanyushchenko, Oleksandr Klimenko, Victor Medvedchuk (a kum of Russian President Vladimir Putin) and Ramzan Ciculaev are in the list too.

The authors of the resolution propose to direct against the listed persons such measures as freezing of assets and preventing disinvestment of Ukraine.
