Security forces searched a Crimean Tatar journalist’s house in Crimea

This morning, the 2nd of September, policemen have searched the house of Elmaz Abduvelieva, who is a journalist of the Crimean Tatars Web portal in Crimea.

This was reported by another Crimean journalist and public figure Lilya Budzhurova.

“Armed policemen have broken into the house of Elmaz Abduvelieva – a journalist of the Crimean Tatars Web portal – in Simferopol. Then they began to search without representing any documents and without giving any reasons,” wrote Budzhurova in Facebook.

The Crimean Tatars Internet-portal has begun to work on the peninsula since the early August. It is about the culture, traditions, language, and history of the Crimean Tatars.

As a reminder a number of Crimean Tatar media of the ATR Media Holding among which ATR and Lale TV channels and the Meidan radio have been closed in Crimea since April 1 last year. This step was condemned by the United States, the European Union, OSCE and the Amnesty International, calling it a further persecution of the Crimean Tatars on the peninsula.
