Russian opposition politician Irina Khakamada believes that newly elected President of the United States Donald Trump will help Russia to legitimize the annexation of Crimea, because “America is fixated about its advantage “.
According to her, the Kremlin can persuade the White House to cooperate in the Middle East and to get in return the desired solution to the “Ukrainian issue”.
“It is possible to legitimize. It is easier to do with Trump and Republicans because they, unlike Democrats, are not so fixated about human rights and the values of democracy, spreading by America as the Messiah throughout the world. They are fixated about advantage. The one can be changed for the other and there is a lot that can be changed here — Assad, a fix-up in Syria, problems in Iraq, joint actions in combating terrorism and so on,” said Khakamada.
She also stated that Russia could not do anything to return Crimea to Ukraine. “Russia cannot do anything. Any politician, trying to return Crimea back, will become an outcast in Russian. So no one will even think of coming near to the edge of returning,” she said.
Previously, Khakamada said that Russia had to compensate Ukraine the annexation of Crimea.
