Russia actively conducts aerial reconnaissance on the Crimean border. This was reported by Assistant Chief of the Border Guard Service of Ukraine Oleg Slobodian.
“Yesterday the situation was stable and controlled. We did not notice any accumulation of vehicles or troops on the border. At the same time, Russia conducted aerial reconnaissance more actively than in previous days. We kept a wary eye on both Russian helicopters in the air flying along the border, and hovercraft in the sea, as well as on movement of small groups of personnel,” said Slobodian.
As a reminder, the exercises with aerial shootings of the Ukrainian Air Forces are being held in the southern part of Ukraine on December 1-2.
Sources at the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that Russia threatened Kiev with a rocket hit if Ukraine’s missile firings took place in the area of Crimea.
Earlier Rosaviatsiya (the Federal Air Transport Agency) said that Ukraine had decided to hold a missile firing in the flight information region of Simferopol on December 1 and 2. Russia considers this area its airspace, despite the fact that it belongs to Ukraine according to international standards.
Simferopol FIR (URFV) includes the Crimean peninsula, a large part of the Black and the Azov Seas, as well as the South of Ukraine. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) recognizes Ukraine’s control over the area.
