According to the Russian President Vladimir Putin, construction of the bridge across the Kerch Strait should be finished before 2018. This “historic idea” was first suggested by Tsar Nicholas I and then by Dictator Josef Stalin.
Putin announced this during his visit in Kerch.
“Nicholas I and then Stalin wanted to build a bridge to Crimea. We must bring this historic idea to life,” the Kremlin journalist Dmitry Smirnov said, quoting Putin’s words on Twitter.
As a reminder, the Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived to Crimea to take a look at the unfinished Kerch Bridge on March 18.
