The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko hopes that after the Ukrainian pilot Nadezhda Savchenko’s release from captivity in Russia Ukraine will be able to regain control of the annexed Crimea and part of the Donbass region, which is now controlled by pro-Russian separatists.

“We will return Crimea and Donbass the same way as we returned Nadezhda,” the Ukrainian President said at a briefing.

As we have informed, Nadezhda Savchenko, convicted in Russia, returned to Ukraine on May 25 in exchange for the Russian military prisoners Alexandrov and Yerofeyev.

Savchenko was sentenced to 22 years of imprisonment, falsely accused in Russia, in particular, of involvement in the deaths of Russian journalists in Donbass.
