MFA of Kazakhstan warns its citizens against visiting Crimea

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan warns its citizens against visiting the annexed Crimea.

According to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic Yerlan Idrisov, citizens of Kazakhstan should choose other resorts for summer holidays until the territorial argument between Russia and Ukraine will be settled.

“Our citizens should decide themselves which of the conflicting positions of the two countries to take, with delicacy. Probably, they have to choose other geographical points for spending their summer vacation to avoid such issues. It is necessary to be as much careful as possible in this situation with understanding the difficulties while visiting Crimea”, said Idrisov during the Eurasian Media Forum in Astana.

According to the Minister, Kazakhstan has become an informational battle-field of those two fraternal peoples and countries. “Our public is confused and doesn’t know what to do. On the one hand, Russia declares the paradise for tourist in Crimea. On the other hand, Ukraine argues that the entrance to the territory of Crimea from Russia is contrary to the Ukrainian State policy. It is very difficult to advice in such a situation. The problem is very complicated and subject to the international legislation. And, of course, it is not Kazakhstan to settle it. We believe that those two parties will settle this very difficult historical and political issue within the international laws,” said Idrisov.

Earlier the Embassy of Ukraine in Astana recommended the Kazakh tour operators to stop selling trip tickets to Crimea.
