MFA: Chinese companies working in Crimea will be cut off access to the Ukrainian market


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine notified the authorities of China that the Chinese companies, which were engaged in activities in the occupied territories, would be prohibited to work on the Ukrainian market, and their leaders would be allowed to enter Ukraine.

This is stated in the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine reply to a request of the site News from Crimea on the work of a number of Chinese companies in Crimea.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Embassy in China are active with the Chinese side to prevent Chinese enterprises from working in the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea, the Donetsk and the Lugansk regions. The Embassy of Ukraine in the Peoples Republic of China made corresponding statements to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce of China concerning each case of Chinese State or private companies’ participation, confirmed or not confirmed. The Chinese side has been warned that the companies which had, has or will have any contact with those areas will be prohibited to work on the Ukrainian market, and their management will not be able to enter Ukraine,” stated the document.

According to the Foreign Ministry, it’s particularly about Shanghai Foundation Engineering Group co., Ltd., which took part in the laying of the “energy bridge” from Russia on the Crimean peninsula.
