Latvian sportsman is revoked bonus for a trip to Crimea

The Sports Council of Latvia, ruled by Prime Minister Māris Kučinskis, has decided to revoke a cash prize of windsurfer Jānis Preis for taking part in competitions in the annexed Crimea last September.

A total of 207 athletes and sports organizations were included in the list of candidates to receive the State Award. The best surfer of Latvia Jānis Preis, who had taken the second place in the Formula Windsurfing Class of the World Championships 2015, was among them. But Preis’ September trip to the annexed Sevastopol has stricken him off the list.
