A delegation of Italian parliamentarians arrived in Crimea with a three-day visit.
The deputies are going to visit Sevastopol, Yalta, Simferopol, as well as to hold meetings with “leaders” of Crimea.
The delegation includes Senators Bartolomeo Pepe, Paola De Pin and Ivan Simeoni, Member of the Chamber of Deputies Nikola Ciracci, the Regional Council of Tuscany member Gabriele Sani, as well as former MEP Giulietto Chiesa.
“It is a friendly familiarization visit, because we have very little information. Our representatives need to know what the actual situation is in Crimea, because we know about sanctions against population have been taken after the incorporation of Crimea to Russia. In Italy we are wrote and shown the tragic situation in Crimea, and we hope to see everything with our own eyes,” said Giulietto Chiesa.
According to the Italian parliamentarians, with their arrival to the peninsula they disagreed with the official position of Italy and the European Union on the question of sanctions due to the Russian annexation of Crimea.
