French company is sucked into scavenging in Crimea

sanctions

A single cluster of collecting, sorting and recycling garbage is planned to be built on the Southern Coast of Crimea. This work will address a French company.

This was announced by the Minister of housing and municipal economy of Crimea Sergey Karpov.

“Against all odds we cooperate with a French company — Veolia. I.e. the French are working in the Russian Crimea under the sanctions. We support them. We will give them the single cluster in Yalta. It is a large company, ready to come with investments”, said Karpov.

As a reminder, on June 17 the Council of the European Union prolonged the restrictive measures which had been imposed in response to the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol, till June 23, 2017. The sanctions include a ban to import into the EU goods from Crimea and Sevastopol; to invest in Crimea or Sevastopol; to render tourist services in Crimea and Sevastopol; to export certain goods and technologies in Crimea.
