Ex-Minister predicts failure of the summer season in Crimea

Ex-Minister of resorts and tourism of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Oleksandr Liev predicts that the summer season 2016 will be as disastrous as the two previous ones in Crimea.

“The tourism industry of Crimea has changed beyond recognition for three years of occupation. This year we can expect that the tourist flow will be at the level of 1.5 million,” said Liev at his press conference in Kiev.

He recalled that the tourism industry had developed successfully in Crimea since early 2000s and prior to the annexation. In 2012 Crimea was visited by more than 6 million people and by 5.9 million tourists in 2013. However, Liev noted that, according to the Association of the hospitality industry of Ukraine, only 1.7 million tourists had visited Crimea in 2015 and about 1.5 million people in 2014.
