European airports accommodate airplanes flying in Crimea

The airplanes that regularly carry out illegal flights to the airport of Simferopol (annexed Crimea) transport passengers to Norway, Italy, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Austria and other countries too.

This is stated by the Maidan of Foreign Affairs monitoring group.

“All the above mentioned countries do not recognize the annexation of Crimea by Russia. But, despite Russia’s violation of the UN General Assembly resolution on March 27, 2014 of non-recognition of the annexation of Crimea by the world community, the airports of the EU and other countries continue to cooperate with the airlines-violators, and the manufacturers of Airbus (the EU) and Boeing (the United States) provide the airplanes carrying out illegal flights to the occupied Crimea with services,” said the statement.

According to the monitoring group, more than 40 Russian airlines, as well as Cambodian and Vietnamese carriers Cambodia Angkor Air and Jetstar Pacific have carried out flights to the airport of Simferopol since the beginning of the occupation. At the moment, the Russian airlines-violators fly to the airport of Simferopol using Airbus, Boeing и Bombardier airplanes.

Ukraine has previously charged the Russian airlines, flying to the annexed Crimea, penalty of 721,236 million UAH (28 million USD).

Derzhaviasluzhba (the State Aviation Service of Ukraine) adopted prohibition of all flights over the Crimean peninsula after the annexation of Crimea by Russia in March 2014. Later, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) officially confirmed the Ukrainian authorities’ control over the Crimean air space.
