Traffic police raids in Crimea to find cars with Ukrainian license plates.
The Crimean human rights group reports that police stops cars with Ukrainian license plates and issue warnings to drivers.
“Policemen warn that if cars are not re-registered under the Russian law within 10 days, drivers will be penalized with a fine of 500 rubles and in case of further violation cars will be arrested,” said the human rights group in its statement.
Another one Crimean reported that Crimean villages are specifically visited by police to find cars with Ukrainian license plates.
According to human rights activists, many car owners are reluctant to change license plates and documents for those ones issued in Russian Crimea, because such documents are invalid under the international legislation.
