Deputies offer to exchange Ukrainian political prisoners for deserters from Crimea

More than 100 MPs of Ukraine have signed a petition to President Petro Poroshenko requesting to take measures to exchange of Ukrainian political prisoners Stanislav Klyh and Mykola Karpyuk being held in Russia.

This was announced by MP Andriy Lozovyi at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada.

“We offer to exchange Karpyuk and Klyh for former Ukrainian militaries Alexander Baranov and Maxim Odintsov deserted to the enemy after the annexation of Crimea and detained by the SBU on November 21,” said Lozovyi.

As a reminder, two former Ukrainian militaries, deserted to the enemy after the Russian annexation of the Crimean peninsula, were detained by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) on the administrative border with Crimea. The detainees are former Ukrainian militaries of the Marine Aviation Brigade in Novofedorovka (Crimea) Alexander Baranov and Maxim Odintsov.
