The Darnytsky District Court of Kyiv has prolonged for two months the arrest of the Sevastopol City Council ex-Deputy Vladimir Galichij, who is accused of treason.
Also the Court returned the case to the Prosecutor’s Office for re-investigation.
“We do not agree with the decision of the Court. We believe that the investigation was fully carried out and the Court may proceed to consider the merits of the case,” said the Ukrainian Crimea Prosecutor Deputy Petro Kovalenko.
As we have informed, the City Council of Sevastopol ex-Deputy Vladimir Galichij was detained at the border crossing the “Kalanchak” check point to enter the annexed Crimea on September 22, 2015. He is suspected of treason.
According to the investigators, Galichij voted for the so-called “Declaration of independence of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol”, as well as for the appeal to Russia to “integrate Crimea and Sevastopol” at the City Council meeting on March 11, 2014.
