WBO Cruiserweight World Champion, Crimean Oleksandr Usyk has decided to stop cooperating with American trainer James Ali Bashir. Usyk will work with Anatoly Lomachenko who is father and coach of another Ukrainian Boxer Vasyl Lomachenko.

This was announced by Vice President of the Professional Boxing League of Ukraine Alina Shaternikova.

“Usik has been always trained by Anatoly Lomachenko. How uncomfortable it may sound, but James Ali Bashir has merely been a temporary replacement for Lomachenko since they began to work by chance on different continents: Lomachenko in the States and Usyk in Ukraine. Now Anatoly Lomachenko will as always be Usyk’s coach and mentor,” said Shaternikova.

It is worth noting that James Ali Bashir remains the second trainer in former World Champion Wladimir Klitschko’s team.

As a reminder, on the night of December 18, 2016 Usyk debuted in the United States and successfully defended his Champion Belt having defeated South African Thabiso Mchunu by TKO.
