A Ukrainian activist is detained in Crimea

Today, the 12th of January, activist of the Ukrainian Cultural Center Andrei Vinogradov has been detained by the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia in Simferopol (Crimea) and taken for questioning.

This was reported by Head of the Ukrainian Cultural Centre Leonid Kuzmin.

“This morning, activist of the Center Andrei Vinogradov has been detained by the FSB,” wrote Kuzmin in Facebook.

According to Kuzmin, Vinogradov informed him about the detention by phone, and then the connection was lost.

The Ukrainian Cultural Centre of Crimea was created after the Russian annexation of the peninsula. This is a public organization created to preserve the language and culture of the Ukrainians on the peninsula. The founders of the Centre do not pose any political challenge.
