The journalist of the “Crimea.Realities” (the Radio Liberty regional branch) Mykola Semena is charged with “inciting to a violation of the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation”.
“The journalist is prosecuted according to Part 2 of Article 280.1 of the Russian Criminal Code,” reported the “Prosecutor” of Crimea Natalia Poklonskaya. She said that the journalist had published an article aimed at violating the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation and that it was not allowed nor journalists nor anyone else.
It is reported that the publication which has become the reason for the proceedings, is about the Ukrainian activist’s blockade of Crimea. According to the Prosecutor, such journalistic materials are regarded as a “justification of terrorism” in Crimea. “In fact, they justify the actions of extremists and terrorists. We will not allow commit crimes against Russian citizens and Russia as a whole. The status of a journalist lies under obligation to comply with the requirements of the law,” said Poklonskaya.
The criminal proceedings are initiated by the Federal Security Service (FSB) in Crimea.
