An Estonian family was not allowed entering Ukraine by Ukrainian border guards from the Crimean peninsula, where the Estonians had arrived without an official permission.
According to the Russian Border Department in Crimea, a family of four people-citizens of Estonia, consisting of two adults and two children, travelled on exit from Crimea through the Dzhankoy checkpoint. At that, the family entered the peninsula from Russia that is a violation of the order of entering the occupied territory.
The Estonians believed that “EU citizens did not need any special permits or visa to enter Ukraine”. However, they were not allowed entering Ukraine, and had to return to Crimea.
As a reminder, according to the Ukrainian legislation, violation of the order of visiting the occupied territories shall entail administrative and criminal responsibility.
