In Simferopol an administrative case for “violation of rules of holding rallies” is filed against Oleksij Shestakovich – a participant of a rally in support of the Crimean political prisoners: Oleg Sentsov and Olexander Kolchenko.
Shestakovich reported about this on Facebook.
“I will face up to 40 days of “physical exploitation” or up to 20 thousand rubles of fine. The case has been already taken to the Court and the first hearing will be held at 9:00 August 2, 2016,” wrote the activist.
Alexander Popkov, who previously had defended the Crimean political prisoner Gennady Afanasyev, became Shestakovich’s lawyer.
On July 2, a group of left-wingers tried to hold a rally in support of the Crimean political prisoners near the building of the Crimean Office of the Federal Security Servise (FSB) in Simferopol. They were able to stay a few minutes only. Russian police officers arrived and prevented the action. One of the participants of the action Shestakovich was detained and released after interrogation.
